Scope of Works
Our client required specialist concrete breaking services to install new drainage areas in a food manufacturing plant.
The scope involved cutting through 12lm of reinforced concrete and breaking out to a depth of 200mm.
The project was commissioned by Octego Ltd who are an industrial construction management company based in West Sussex. They offer a complete range of building and maintenance services for commercial and industrial premises across Sussex and the south of England.
Challenges & Solutions
Being within a food manufacturing plant there was careful planning, controlled working methods, and strict adherence to health and safety procedures including:
- Fume free working
- HAV’s (Hand and Arm Vibration Syndrome) control
- Dust control
Fume free working
All plant used on the project was Phase 3 compliant, helping to maintain a fume-free working environment throughout the area.
HAV’s
By using robotic demolition machines, electric dumpers, and electric diggers, we significantly reduced operatives’ exposure to hand-arm vibration (HAVs).

What We Did
Our experienced operatives, Carl, Jordan and Andrew cut through 12lm of reinforced concrete at 200mm deep, with our Tyrolit FSE1022 floor saw. They then broke out using our Husqvarna DXR145 demolition robot to a depth of 200mm through reinforced concrete. The spoil was removed from site using our Takeuchi TB210 Hybrid mini digger and Twinca ES800 High Tip dumper, eliminating any risk of manual handling concerns.
Results
The drilling works were completed efficiently, safely, and to the required specification. The client was extremely pleased with the quality of the work delivered and the professionalism of our team on site.
